35 SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SCHEDULED CASTE/ SCHEDULED TRIBE/PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED ENGINEERING STUDENTS, SCHEME- XVIII (2007-08)

The country’s premier power producer takes on the responsibility for fruitful impact in the cause of SC/ST/Physically Challenged persons. As a responsible and socially conscious enterprise, NTPC is offering 35 scholarships to students belonging to Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe/Physically Challenged categories pursuing full time degree course in Engineering.

ELIGIBILITY:
Students belonging to SC/ST/Physically Challenged categories (Visually Handicapped/ Hearing Handicapped/ Orthopaedically Handicapped) and pursuing full time degree course in Engineering in the disciplines of Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Computer Science, Electronics / Telecommunication from a college/ university/ institute recognized by the Govt, of India and should be in the Second Year in the session 2007-2008. Those who have successfully completed the 1st year degree course in 2007 in the first attempt only need apply. They should not be receiving any financial aid or assistance from any source.

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT:
The scholarship is admissible from the second year till the final year subject to the condition that the student meets the minimum qualifying criterion for success in each year. The amount of scholarship is Rs.1500/- P.M. Total 35 scholarships will be granted (20 SC, 10 ST and 05 PC).

HOW TO APPLY:
Students fulfilling the eligibility condition may submit their applications in the prescribed format printed alongside duly completed in all respects along with supporting documents through the Head of the Institution. SRM Educational Scholarships 2008-09

SRM University continues its commitment to make education affordable to every deserving student. The University offers the following scholarships to the students admitted to any branch of their choice in the academic year 2008-2009.

1. Tamil Nadu District Toppers Scholarship:
Students who have secured the top two ranks in Tamil Nadu, taking into account total marks in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry, will be exempted from payment of tuition fees and hostel fees on joining SRM University (in Engineering stream). In addition, they will be provided a stipend of Rs.1,000/- per month. If they wish to join any of the Government Engineering Colleges/ Anna University, the scholarship will be awarded equal to the tuition fees as per the recommendation of the committee constituted by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

2. Academic Performance Scholarship:
Students who have secured 95% and above marks in Maths, Physics and Chemistry in Higher Secondary/ CBSE will be offered 50% fees concession on joining any branch of their choice in SRM University.

3. Sports Scholarship:
National and International level sports persons are exempted from tuition fees and hostel accommodation and mess fee.

4. Need Based Scholarship:
Scholarships in the form of suitable fee concession will be awarded to students from an economically backward background.
