			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>LSE - CR Parekh Fellowship 2009/10</strong></p>
<p>In the Autumn of 2008, the London School of Economics &amp; Political Science (LSE) will invite applications for the `C.R. Parekh Fellowship’. Applicants should be established scholars in the social sciences with experience of research on India. Applicants should hold a PhD or comparable qualifications and experience - the fellowship is not intended for students registered for a degree or diploma, nor is it intended for senior academics.</p>
<ol>
<li>The `C.R. Parekh Fellowship’ will be for a period of three months, preferably starting 1st October 2009 to allow the Fellow to fully participate in academic activities around, and will be based at the Asia Research Centre at the LSE.</li>
<li>The Fellow will receive a monthly subsistence allowance of up to £1200 a month, the exact amount depending on qualifications<span id="more-246"></span>; and will be provided with office space and access to research facilities at the School.</li>
<li>The Fellow will be expected to engage in research on a topic under the following themes:
<ul type="disc">
<li>Poverty, Inequality, Human Development and Social Exclusion</li>
<li>Quality of Public Life</li>
<li>Regional Disparities</li>
<li>Identities - Gender, Ethnicity, Language</li>
<li>Economy and Environment</li>
<li>Political Structures and Processes</li>
<li>Constitutional Debates</li>
</ul>
<p>Preference will be given to topics that focus on social, economic, political and constitutional concern to India</li>
<li>The Fellowship is open to candidates from India only.</li>
<li>The Fellow will be expected to finish a piece of research of publishable quality during their stay and make a presentation at a seminar or lecture arranged by the Asia Research Centre.</li>

<p>We invite applications from highly motivated candidates, willing to take up challenges in modern biology, for admissions to our Research Scholars program. Keeping in view the interdisciplinary nature of modern biology, we especially encourage persons from diverse backgrounds to apply. Those admitted as Research Scholars would be encouraged to apply for the Ph.D. program of Manipal University or University of Hyderabad.</p>
<p><strong>Eligibility:</strong> M.B.B.S. or Masters degree in any branch of Science, Technology, or Agriculture. Candidates (other than MBBS graduates) must have cleared the CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/ICAR NET for j JRF. Those who have appeared, but are awaiting results, are also eligible to apply. However, only those candidates will be considered who produce proof of having cleared the CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/ICAR NET JRF except for M.B.B.S. Admission to CDFD-Research Scholars program is based on a 2-tier system involving a written test followed by interview of candidates who have qualified the written test. <span id="more-245"></span></p>
<p>CDFD is pleased to announce upto two research fellowships for the candidates with MBBS. The admission procedure will remain the same. In the case of candidates whose JRF examination results are announced before the written test of CDFD takes place, and have qualified the NET v/ith fellowship, they will be eligible to appear for the CDFD examination upon furnishing the relevant details of having cleared the JRF/NET with fellowship.</p>

<p>As part of Google’s ongoing commitment to furthering Anita’s vision, we are pleased to announce The Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship: Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Through the scholarship, we aim to encourage women to excel in computing and technology, and become active role models and leaders.</p>
<p>Multiple scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of candidates’ academic performance, leadership experience and demonstrated passion for computer science. A group of female Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD student finalists will be chosen from the applicant pool. The scholarship recipients, selected from the finalists, will each receive a €5,000 (or equivalent) scholarship for the 2009/2010 academic year.</p>
<p>In June 2009, all finalists will be invited to visit Google’s Engineering Centre in Zurich for a networking retreat. It will include workshops with a series of speakers, panels, breakout sessions and social activities, and will provide an opportunity for all finalists to meet and share their experiences.</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Eligibility Conditions</span></strong></p>
<p><strong>Candidates must:<br />
</strong>Be a female student entering her final year of a Bachelor’s degree, or enrolled in an a Master’s or PhD programme (or equivalent), in 2009/2010.<br />
Be enrolled at a University in Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa. Citizens, permanent residents, and international students are eligible to apply.<br />
Be studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics, or a closely related technical field.<br />
Maintain an excellent academic record (e.g. a First Class Honours degree).</p>

As a responsible and socially conscious enterprise, NTPC is offering 35 scholarships to students belonging to Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe/Physically Challenged categories pursuing full time degree course in Engineering.</p>
<p><strong>ELIGIBILITY:</strong><br />
Students belonging to SC/ST/Physically Challenged categories (Visually Handicapped/ Hearing Handicapped/ Orthopaedically Handicapped) and pursuing full time degree course in Engineering in the disciplines of Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Computer Science, Electronics / Telecommunication from a college/ university/ institute recognized by the Govt, of India and should be in the Second Year in the session 2007-2008. Those who have successfully completed the 1st year degree course in 2007 in the first attempt only need apply. They should not be receiving any financial aid or assistance from any source.</p>
<p><strong>SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT:</strong><br />
The scholarship is admissible from the second year till the final year subject to the condition that the student meets the minimum qualifying criterion for success in each year. The amount of scholarship is Rs.1500/- P.M. Total 35 scholarships will be granted (20 SC, 10 ST and 05 PC).</p>

<strong>NMML Fellowships</strong></p>
<p>The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) offers fellowships to scholars to pursue research in (i) modern Indian history and contemporary studies (ii) perspectives in Indian development (social, economic and cultural) (iii) India and changing trends in world economy and polity.</p>
<p>Special preference will be given to scholars working on a) various aspects of the history of India’s national liberation struggle and b) Jawaharlal Nehru, values represented by him and the critical issues of the Nehruvian era. This would include a wide range of areas such as foreign policy and national security, the study of democracy, movements for the deepening of democracy, planning, equity, communalism, gender, education and health and particularly its access to the poor.</p>
<p>The fellowships are offered at three levels:</p>
<p>Junior Fellow, Fellow and Senior Fellow. The emoluments, including allowances, will correspond to that of Assistant professor, Associate Professor and Professor of Central Universities, respectively (plus 2 increments). CPF/ GPF facilities will be extended only to scholars having permanent jobs who take up the fellowship after taking leave without pay from their parent departments.</p>
<p>Fellowships offered are for a duration of two years only. Fellows will be based in Delhi except for a maximum of five fellows who may be permitted by the Selection Committee to be based outside Delhi.</p>
<p><strong>Senior Fellow:</strong> Scholars of eminence who have made significant contribution to the knowledge in their respective fields and preferably have experience of conducting and guiding research.</p>
<p><strong>Fellow:</strong> Good Academic record, a Ph. D or equivalent published work and at least five years teaching/ post doctoral research experience.</p>
<p><strong>Junior Fellow:</strong> These positions are open to candidates with a good academic record and/or scholarly publication, and preferably Ph. D degree.</p>

<p><strong>CBSE MERIT SCHOLARSHIP SCHEMES</strong></p>
<p>The Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi notifies the following scholarship schemes on the basis of examinations conducted by the Board in the year 2008.</p>
<p>1. CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child for +2</p>
<p>2. CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Professional Studies.</p>
<p>3. CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Under Graduate Studies for Single Girl Child</p>
<p>• The details, eligibility conditions of each scheme are given in Board’s Website <a href="http://www.cbse.nic.in">www.cbse.nic.in</a> which may be referred to. Eligible students may submit the requiste documents to the Board on or before 31.08.2008.</p>
<p>• The Scholars of all the schemes who have been granted scholarship by the Board during the previous years may also submit the required documents for renewal of scholarship.</p>
<p><strong>Last date for receipt of all the documents: </strong>31.08.2008</p>

<strong>ANNOUNCEMENT OF NATIONAL TALENT SEARCH EXAMINATION(NTSE-2009) </strong></p>
<p><strong>ARE YOU IN CLASS VIII? YOU MAY GET SCHOLARSHIP UPTO YOUR P.G/Ph.D.</strong></p>
<p>National Talent Search Scheme is a flagship activity of the NCERT started in the year 1963. The purpose of the scheme is to identify talented students and nurture their talent. Talent refers to the potentiality that manifests itself in a high level of performance in one or more specialized areas. The scheme, therefore, covers areas like Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Management and Law. It honors and helps talented students by providing financial assistances in the form of a monthly scholarship. For the courses in Basic Sciences, Social Sciences and Commerce, this assistance is provided up to Ph.D level. For professional courses like Engineering, Medicine, Management and Law; this assistance is given only up to Post Graduation. For the selection year 2009, The NCERT will conduct the National Talent Search Examination for students studying in class VIII only.</p>
<p>1. Scholarships: On the basis of the examination conducted, 1000 scholarships will be awarded for each group of students appearing for Class VIII examinations.</p>
<p>2. Reservation: 15% scholarships will be reserved for students belonging to the SC category, 7.5% scholarships for students belonging to the ST category and 3% for the Physically Challenged Group of Students each in respect of the class VIII.</p>
<p>3. Scholarship: Awardees of NTS Examination will receive a sum of Rs.500/-per month as per NTS rules.</p>
<p>4. Selection: There will be two-stage selection process for award of scholarship. For stage-1, selection will be done by States/UTs through a written examination. Students who qualify Stage 1 will be eligible to appear for Stage 11 examination conducted by NCERT.</p>
<p>5. Important Dates: Dates for Submission of Application Form and conduct of examinations are given below in the table.<br />
STAGE : Stage I ( State )</p>
<p>AREA : * Last Date for submission of Application Form - 30 August 2008 ( Saturday )<br />
* Examination in Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Andaman and Nicobar Islands 15 November 2008(Saturday)<br />
* Examination in All States and Union Territories 16 November 2008 ( Sunday )</p>
<p>STAGE : Stage II ( National )<br />
AREA : Examination in All States and Union Territories 10 May 2009 ( Sunday)</p>
<p>6. Eligibility: Students of Class VIII studying in recognized schools are eligible to appear Stage I examination conducted by the States/UTs in which the schools are located. There will be no domicile restriction.</p>
<p>7. Examination: The pattern of written examination for Class VIII will be as follows.</p>
<p>Stage 1 examination at the State/UT level will comprise two parts, namely (a) Mental Ability Test(MAT) and (b) Scholastic Ability Test(SAT) covering social sciences, sciences and mathematics.<br />
Stage 2 examination at the National level will comprise (a) Mental Ability Test(MAT), (b) Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) covering social sciences and mathematics, (c) Interview. Only those candidates who qualify the written examination at the National Level will be invited for the interview.</p>
<p>8. State Quotas: Each State/Union Tertiary has been allotted a quota to recommend a specific number of candidates for the Stage II examination, the details of which will be made available on the NCERT website. However, there will be no State/Union Territory Quotas for the final award of scholarship after the Stage II examination. Reservation for SC, ST and Physically Challenged will be as notified in Para 2 above.</p>
<p>9. Application Forms: Application forms may be downloaded from the NCERT website <a href="http://www.ncert.nic.in">www.ncert.nic.in</a>. All correspondences related to application forms should be addressed to the state Liaison Officers (Los) whose addresses are given at the end/Website : <a href="http://www.ncert.nic.in">www.ncert.nic.in</a></p>
<p>10. The completed application form duly signed by the principal of the school should be submitted to the LO before the last date i.e. 31 August 2008.</p>
<p>11. Fees: States and Union Territories may notify the fee required (refer to NCERT website) which will be paid for the Stage-1 examination. However, NCERT does not charge any fee for the Stage-II examination.</p>
<p>12. Announcement of Results: Results of the Stage I examination will be announced by NCERT.</p>
<p>13. Indian Students Studying Abroad can appear directly for Stage II NTS Examinations under conditions prescribed in the NTS Brochure for Class VIII which is available on the NCERT website. Candidates may fill up relevant items of the application form available on the NCERT website and send in to the undersigned along with a photocopy of the mark sheet of previous examination latest by 31 March 2009.</p>

<p>LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation is pleased to announce 1000 scholarships in All India (10 scholarships per Divisional Centre of LIC equal number of boys and girls: 5 each) for students belonging to economically weaker families for pursuing higher studies in Medicine, Engineering and Graduation in any discipline, Diploma Course in any field and Vocational Course of Graduation Level through Government Recognized Colleges/ Institutes which leads to immediate employment.</p>
<p><strong>Who can apply :</strong> Only candidates who have passed Class XII Exam in Academic Year 2007-08 with at least 60% of marks, and family income of Rs.60,000/- and below per annum need apply.</p>
